Pacient stay at the hospital for one day after surgery for control of pain after the surgery.
Normal clinical signs:
Some pain with motion.
Numbness of the genital zone: 2-3 weeks: Extremely rare.
Transitory pain and numbness in the lateral part of the thigh.
Numbness and pain in the ankle 2-3 days.
Its very importante for the patient to know the phases after the surgery.
Recomendations after hip arthroscopy
Four weeks after surgery.
First to fourth week.
Prudence period: tissues cicatrization
Partial bearing with sticks 3-4 weeks. Leave sticks progressively third-fourth week depending on tolerance. If pain persits, keep on using sticks.
Passive flexion up to 80-90 degrres. Avoid extreme external rotation and putting the leg extremely to back. Not to be seated for a long time: stand up and walk for 2 minutes every half an hour.
Recommended exercises: 15 minutes 4 times a day: 2 times in the morning and 2 times in teh afternoon. Circunduction 10 minutes, rolling 10 minutes, passive flexion up to 80-90 degrees 2-3 minutes.
Stationary bike 10-15 minutes in the morning and 10-15 minutes in the afternoon going in front and back without resistance and with the saddle in high position.
Walk for 10 minutes in the morning (5 and 5) and 10 minutes in the afternoon (5 and 5).
Gluteus contraction exercise for 5 minutes every hour (hard buttock).
Anticoagulation: Hibor 1/day for 10 days.
Enantyum 25/8 hours 3-4 days. Then leave and start with Vimovo 1/12 hours for 6 weeks to avoid heterotopic ossification
Paracetamol 1g/8 hours 3-4 days and after if needed.
Local ice 3-4 times a day for 10 minutes.
Daily cure of stitchs and remove in 15-20 days (not before).
Office control in 3-4 weeks. Test muscular strength and movility. Decide to start phase 2 or not.
